Funding process

The selection process generally consists of two stages and takes approximately six months, from submitting the project to the funding decision. A preliminary review of the project is recommended.

Preliminary Review

Writing grant applications is time-consuming and involves extensive paperwork — for both the applicant and the grant-giving institution. To make this process as efficient as possible, we recommend that applicants conduct a two-part preliminary review of eligibility:

Self-assessment
If you can answer the following four questions affirmatively, we look forward to receiving your abstract for a voluntary preliminary review:

  1. Does your research project match the current call for proposals of Peter Bopp Stiftung?

  2. Is the research project based at a Swiss university or research institution in accordance with Art. 15 RIPA?

  3. Does the research project tackle a relevant societal or environmental challenge?

  4. Do you have a clear idea as to which industry or economic application could benefit from the results of your research project?

Phase 1

Project Submission

Project submissions are only possible in relation to an ongoing call for proposals. Submissions are made via a digital platform and require a detailed project description and various documents. You will find all necessary information in the download section.

Phase 2

Project Selection and
Grant-Making Decision

Submitted projects are reviewed by both the internal Funding Committee of Peter Bopp Stiftung and by external experts. Applicants whose projects are selected will be given the opportunity to pitch their project online to the Board of Trustees. The final decision resides with the Board of Trustees of Peter Bopp Stiftung.
